Toshiba Portégé G810

With this phone, Toshiba gets up to date, especially in terms of design, by offering a complete equipment. Its dimensions (58mm x 110mm x 14mm) place it in the middle of "PDA phone" category. Despite a good 1530 mAh battery, weight does not exceed 120 g, a good point in relation to competitors. Its grip and ergonomics are correct with shortcut keys on the edges of the device and sensitive keys enough reactive in front.

Powered by the already aging Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, the Toshiba Portégé G810 takes advantage of a simplified interface. This interface allows us to use the mobile more easily with the finger and provides transition effects modeled on the ones in HTC Touch Flo.

Alternatively, you can always try to use the stylus, which looks like a toothpick! The association of the virtual keyboard of Windows Mobile and the stylus will also quickly exhausted your patience ... to temper the criticism, Toshiba has integrated a full Screen keyboard in full screen. In the absence of an accelerometer, you can still view landscape mode by clicking on an icon menu accessible from the "simplified" interface - altough we'd rather have a more direct accessto that option.

Along with the finishes, comes the disappointment. The plastic seems "cheap" and small details like the lack of protection for the USB  port or the microSD card slot support this bad impression. The touch screen of 2.8 inches is responsive, but its QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 pixels seems outdated.

Able to attract professionals with HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi, the phone also benefits from a GPS especially complete navigation solution, namely CoPilot Live 7. However, this phone has not much power, with Qualcomm MSM7200 processor clocked at 400MHz with 128 MB of RAM causing numerous delays.
