Panasonic TX-PF50X10
This 50-inch (127 cm) offers a native resolution of 1 366 x 768 pixels, with warm colors and sharp contrasts. It is a model almost unknown, simply because it is not Full HD, so as a result, many are certainly missing a good deal if searching for a plasma that it is primarily used as a... TV. Launched at 1.099 euro, it is now available at less than 800 euro.
Don't expect the best design and even though it measures 10 cm in thickness, still appears sober and discreet. In terms of connectivity, it includes three HDMI inputs (two at the rear, one on the side), a PC input (side), analog audio-video input (side), two SCART, an YUV entry, an optical digital audio output, headphone output and a port for SD-SDHC. It's simple, but sufficient if it is used primarily as a television. No USB port, therefore, no Ethernet port, or Wi-Fi module, or widget, or online service online. As for the port for SD-SDHC, it is only compatible with JPEG, so you must use another device to read DivX and MKV.
In terms of picture quality, nothing to say about this TX-PF50X10, excellent for the price. The real highlight, as always with the plasma, are the level of contrast. Given to 20 000:1 native and able to climb to 2 000 000:1 dynamic, its actually quite impressive. It provides a great HD picture, beautiful, it is pleasant for those evenings in standard definition, tasty portions of video games and sympathetic film screening in family. In sum, a small price, a large screen, strong contrasts, sharp definition, pleasant colors and satisfactory brightness.
