HP Compaq Mini 311c

The design of this model resembles the 310 version. However, it is now more refined. The cover is black, but if we look closer, there are gray watermarked geometric patterns that give it more style. For a netbook, the keyboard features large buttons, slightly concave for better accuracy.

With an Intel Atom N270, beating at 1.6 GHz, the HP Compaq Mini 311c  is sold in different configurations. The more standard version has 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, to which we can add up to 2 GB . It has also a Hitachi 160GB hard drive, 11.6" LED LCD display, webcam, 5in1 card reader, 802.11bg wireless, 3x USB ports, Ethernet, Bluetooth, HDMI, VGA, and Windows XP.

No Windows 7, Hewlett Packard has chosen the old Windows XP (SP3) but the machine, according to all reviews sources, still behaves well. The 11.6-inch screen offers high resolution of 1366x768 pixels (not bad). With such a screen, this computer is close with the notebook with 1.46 Kg on the scales, when others are lighter than 200 grams. The glossy panel is average, nothing more.

This computer it is based on NVIDIA's ION platform, it has a graphics performance of a classic netbook. Even though you cant expect it to perform at maximum settings and even if is still far from the experience with GeForce, it's still a pleasure. It can run demanding games like Need 4 Speed Shift, but experience is less satisfactory than in older game. The HD movie playback (1280x720 pixels) and Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) it is also very satisfactory if you use the right tools for media play.

With its 6-cell battery, this ultraportable provides up to 4.30 hours surfing intensive in WiFi (backlight to 50%). With it off, you can reach without difficulty 5h30.

Price: around 400 €
